Andreea Nechita is one of the few photographers in Romania specialized in black & white portraits. She studied at University of Art and Design in Cluj-Napoca. Her passion for photography started since childhood. Attracted by the simplicity, innocence and beauty in people, things which she believes are present in everyone and in every moment of their lives, she wanted to give them back a part of the beauty she saw in their eyes. This is why, every time she took a picture of someone, she went back to that person and gave her a colored print of the photo. When they received the printed photos from Andreea, their various reactions created a continuation of the story that has emerged around the photo.
About two years ago, Andreea integrated into a community of poor people located near a landfill in Cluj-Napoca, a place that is considered dangerous because of the many negative incidents that occurred there. She first went there without knowing anything about the bad things that happened to other visitors of the place. Despite those things, she befriended the children there and their parents in a short period of time. After that, she continued to visit them, to take pictures of them and to give them the printed images. When she was shooting, her main purpose was to highlight their beauty, which exists in people's simplicity itself, despite the poverty and living conditions. The photos taken there were published by Andreea in art circles, where they were appreciated and awarded.
As for the future, Andreea wishes to integrate into more communities like the first one and to show the world the beauty that lies into the things, people and places they are afraid of.
